Embossing Adventures

Hello! I'm here with some embossing fun, inspired by this weeks challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs! I’ve created a simple, yet elegant card just by adding layers of dies. I started by cutting my base card using the Square Scallop Nesting Die, layering it with the Classic Silver Stacker Square. I just love that the Silver stackers are the perfect fit for the Nesting dies, taking out all the guessing work!

To create the lacy border, I cut two pieces from Francesca and placed the flat edges together. After adding a piece of satin ribbon, I topped it with the Flower Chain Border which I trimmed to fit. For a bit of interest, I added texture to my Classic Circle Silver Stacker layer using the Petite Hearts XL Embossing Plate before adhering to the Scalloped Circle Nesting diecut. Yes! It is okay to emboss your pattern papers too, just make sure your patterns compliment each other!

I embellished my card using the smaller heart from Two of Hearts, topped with a Large Rose. I lightly brushed the edges of the petals with Shimmerz Paints before assembling the flower. I tucked leaves from Stacker Flower #1, along with Olive Branches in around the flower. Remember I said I had trimmed the Flower Chain Border to fit? I saved the remaining pieces and trimmed the excess chain from the leftover flowers, adding the flowers to the bouquet!

Winter Wonderland

Hello! I'm here with a winter layout for Cheery Lynn Designs.

Using the January sketch from My Creative Sketches, I began my design by placing the Mega Tea Party Doily on the center of my background. I started layering pattern papers, some cut work, and the Large Sunflower Doily…those dainty details really add a lot!

I added the new Francesca border to the bottom of the photo. The details of this border are so exquisite and definitely a new favorite! ( AND it's also on sale!) After attaching all the layers, I strategically tucked in some Pine Branches. I finished off the layout by adding a couple Snowflakes #2. For a little fun texture and dimension, I added a Miniature Rose to the center of the upper snowflake, and Cuties #2 to the lower snowflake.

New Release!

Cheery Lynn Designs is revealing another set of dies today! More gorgeous doilies, borders, frames, flower, wings and more!

For my first project, I created a canvas ….my first attempt at a canvas! I’ve seen so many gorgeous canvas creations but have been a bit intimidated to try one of my one. I decided it was time to step outside my comfort zone and give it a try! I started by spritzing the background with my Tattered Angel Glimmer Mists. I layered a few doily dies in amongst some Glitz Design Whatnots and Peek-A-Boo‘s. Notice the new English Tea Party Angel Wings and Polynesian Sales Doily Angel Wing ? They really enhance the details in the doilies! (English Tea Party Doily, Polynesian Sales Oval Doily) Check out the doily under the “e!” That is the newly released Sophia’s Heart Doily. Isn’t it exquisite?! To the right, I added a piece of Victorian Picket Fence border.

After covering my letters with pattern paper, I added some Distress Crackle Paints contributing to the vintage feel of the piece. I used the larger die from Two of Hearts in place of the “o”. The pleated flower atop was created using the Newly released Wedding Garter border. I pleated it every quarter inch, attached the ends, and finished off with a Dangle from Pink Paislee.

Next, I added flowers created with the Miniature Rose, Large Rose, and the newly released Cuties #4. To create the Cuties #4, I cut my dies from several layers of pages from an old book. Since the papers is lighter, the flowers turned out so fluffy! The leaves around the flowers were cut from Olive Branches, Small Leaves #2, and Large Leaves #2. Finishing off the piece, I adhered a butterfly from Exotic Butterfly small #2. Then the final touch…attaching the newly released Francesca Border around the edge. I really had fun with this project and won’t be so intimidated to try another!

My second project is a 5x7 card. The beautiful background was created using the XL Diamonds & Starburst Embossing Plate. I layered the newly released Wedding Garter border on top of the newly released Francesca border. The lovely pink frame was cut from the newly released Enchanted Forest Stacker Frame set. To created the flower, I cut several layers of tissue paper using the newly released Cutie #4. Leaves were cut from the Small Leaves #2 set.

Oh so Lacy!

Hello! With Valentines around the corner, I thought I would work on a romantic layout. Todays layout features borders and flowers from Cheery Lynn Designs.

I started by dressing up the layout with piecing the Anastasia Border around the background paper. I layered the Lace Light Deco Border atop the Tiffany Border. I like to slightly roll the bottom of the borders to give a bit of texture, and make them look more like real lace. After adding some fussy cutting, I tucked the English Tea Party Doily in a couple places.

I cut the Sweet Williams flower from denim scraps.

After cutting the petals of the Large Rose, Miniatuare Rose, Frangipani with Leaves, and Stacker flower #5, I spritzed each set of petal with Glimmer Mist then scrunched each petal between my fingers and set them aside to dry. Once dry, I assembled the flowers. Distressing the petals gives the flowers a completely different look.

Before assembling the Stacker Flower #5, I staggered the flower and shortened some of the petals but cutting the die piece with the Scalloped Window Stackers.

I also added Cuties #1 to the bouquet. Once all flower were dispersed, I tucked in pieces of the Fanciful Flourish, Olive Branches, along with leaves from Stacker Flowers #1 and Dimensional Small Leaves #2. To complete the romantic feel of the layout, I added the Small Lace Butterfly…isn’t this die so delicate and beautiful?!

Chasing away the Winter Blues!

Hello!! This weeks challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs- Winter Blues - was my inspiration for today’s creation.

I used a old jar from a candle, but you could easily create something similar using an old wine bottle, vase, or search you local thrift store for other ideas….the hunt is half the fun! Wouldn’t this make an elegant vase for that much needed bouquet to bring you out of those winter blues, or even a lovely candle holder for those cold winter nights!

Using adhesive backed craft vinyl, I used Snowflake #2 to cut several snowflakes. Since the snowflakes were small enough and easy to handle, I did not use transfer tape this time. I removed the backing of the vinyl and adhered the snowflakes randomly around the jar. Make sure all parts of the snowflake are snug to the jar; you don’t want any etching cream to leak underneath and ruin your image. Next, apply the glass etching cream over the entire jar/bottle. (I used Armour Etch) Wait the length of time listed in the instructions on your bottle, rinse the etching cream away. Add a ribbon and tag. Enjoy!

Hello! Today I have another card for Cheery Lynn Designs featuring the Classic Coved Rectangle, Silver Stacker Coved Rectangle and the Polynesian Sails Oval.

I cut the Oval doily in half and positioned it just around the top and bottom of the Coved Rectangle diecut. The large flower is two layers of Cuties #2. By embossing and scrunching 3 layers of the Miniature Rose, I created the little flower buds. The foliage consists of Olive Branches and leaves from Small Leaves #2. The gorgeous mini doily under the flowers comes from the center of the Polynesian Sails Doily die. Two beautiful dies for the money! A definate bargin!!

Happy Friday! I'm here today sharing a masculine card focusing on mixing basic shapes with dies from Cheery Lynn Designs.

I started by cutting my stamped image with the Classic Square Silver Stacker and layering it on the Scalloped Square Nesting Stacker. I then chose to layer atop the Classic French Flair Silver Stacker and Scalloped French Flair Nesting Stacker Die. The Border Carnivale is perfect for dressing up masculine cards.

The swag consists of several layers of Pine Branches and Olive Branches, topped with leaves from the Small Leaves #2 set.

I used the October Afternoon Space Age line, throwing in some fun elements in unexpected ways much as my son would have!

I adhered the pattern paper to chipboard, then attached with dimensional foam to add texture and dimension.

Vintage Angel

Happy Holidays! Today I have a couple projects featuring dies from Cheery Lynn Designs. First, I want to share an ornament I created. I wanted an old, vintage looking angel for my tree. I remember seeing some made from doilies and decided to try my own.

Using pages from an old book, I cut the body from English Tea Party Doily, and the arms are the small center doily from Polynesian Sails Oval. After gluing them in cone shapes and attaching together, I created the wings by scrunching the center of the Italian Flourish doily.

Once the angel was complete, I embellished her with the Miniature Rose and leaves from Small Leaves #2.

I had so much fun putting my angel together that I decided to make a larger version with the daycare kids. They love when I get the machine out and let them cut out their own dies! For their angel, we used the Mega Tea Party doily for the body. The arms are the Italian Flourish Doily. The largest die from Scalloped Window Stackers became the head. I think the parents enjoyed seeing the kids’ projects as much as the kids enjoyed making them!

Here is a picture of my angel next to one of theirs so you get an idea of the difference in size of the regular dies compared to the mega doily.

I also created a card for you!

Rather than cut out the snowflake, I opted to emboss the die Snowflake #2 unto Coredinations cardstock, placing the die slightly off the edge of the paper. I sanded the embossed details of the die for a fun texture. Once the snowflake was prepared to my liking, I lined up my die from Classic Circle Silver Stacker and cut out a circle containing the snowflake, and layered on top of the Circle Scallop Nesting Die. In the middle of the card lies the Classic Coved Rectangle Silver Stacker, layered with the Classic Coved Rectangle Nesting Die, using Lace Light Deco Border to dress up the bottom. Lastly the Classic French Flair Silver Stacker layered on the Scalloped French Flair Nesting Die creating the card shape.

A Bouquet of Love

Hello! Today I have another Cheery Lynn Designs creation showcasing an 8x8 layout featuring the Mega Tea Party Doily.

Isn’t this doily just gorgeous?! The details are just phenomenal! What a fun texture the Cuties #1 flower adds. I inked and embossed leaves from Stacker Flowers #1 Leaf and Small Dimensional Leaves #2 to tuck under the flower. A swirl from the Fanciful Flourish gives the finishing touch.

The title is highlighted by the beautiful and delicate lacy die, Anastasia Border. Toward the bottom you can see the lovely details of the scalloped Border Carnivale.

The bouquet is centered around the flower I created using Sweet Williams. I layered about 15-20 layers of tissue paper for each size die. Yes, you can easily cut that many layers tissue paper at one time. Once cut, I attached the layers with a brad. After having the brad in place, I fluffed the layers by pulling them apart and scrunching them slightly with my fingers. To add a bit of color, I lightly rubbed the edges of the flower directly to a distress ink pad. Finishing it off, I spritzed the flower with Pearl Glimmer Mist allowing the distress ink to blend, and adding a bit of shimmer to the flower.

To the left of the flower is the Large Rose and Miniature Rose. I’ve used leaves from Stacker Flower #1 Leaf, Dimensional Small Leaves #2, Dimensional Large Leaves #2. Fanciful Flourish, Pair of Ferns, and Olive Branches make great fillers, adding nice texture and dimension. The bouquete rests atop of the Victorian Romance Flourish. Of course I had to add one of my all-time favorite Exotic Mini Butterflies!

Sparkle in my Eye

I'm here to share another fun layout full of layers using dies from Cheery Lynn Designs. This weeks challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs inspired me to dig out my silver sparkles. What better glittery winter fun than snowflakes! Honestly, I got these snowflake dies in the mail this week and they are so beautiful that I couldn’t wait to play with them! *wink*

I apologize. I don't know why blogger is cutting off the edge of my photo or making it appear fuzzy, but you can click on the photo to see the entire layout.

The bottom blue layer is edged with Border Carnivale. Topping the polka dot paper is a section of the Dutch Scallop Square Frame. Not only is it gorgeous, but it is just the right size to frame and draw attention to her precious little face. Tucked between the photo and the Dutch Scallop Square Frame is Snowflake #1. Exactly half of the snowflake is showing . Again I used exactly half of Snowflake #1 at the top right hand corner. Snowflake #2 is fluttering on the left hand corner between the blue and polka dot layers.

Anastasia Border dresses the bottom of the photo.

On the right hand side, I layered the Mega Polynesian Sail Doily under the polka dot paper. To add a bit of fun and texture, I cut the doily from Coredinations cardstock and sanded the edges, then added splashes of distress ink here and there. Adorning the top is Snowflake #2 cut from Silver cardstock and adhered with a foam dimensional dot. I added an Epiphany Silver Setting to the center of the snowflake.

The English Tea Party Doily garnishes the bottom left corner, tucked in under the polka dot layer. I cut the Fanciful Flourish from cream cardstock then added splashes of two colors of distress inks. I meticulously added silver and blue stickles. The moisture from the stickles allowed the distress inks to blend, and the different colors of stickles added a bit of interest. Again, Snowflake #2 embellishes the top; decorated with a lacy bow and Epiphany Metal setting.

I just love to make my own flowers. Cheery Lynn Designs has such a fabulous variety of flower dies to chose from. Today I have a close up of the newly released Cuties #1. I diecut two layers and staggered them before winding them up, giving me a bit larger fuller flower. After cutting leaves from Small Leaves #2, I placed the flower on the larger heart of the Two of hearts set. Underneath the layers is the Polynesian Sails Oval doily, adding a bit of elegant flair to the card. Lastly, the dainty Anastasia Border is the perfect touch along the edge. The finished card is 3 ¾ inches x 7 ½ inches.

Wonderful You

Hello! I hope you are having a Cheery Saturday! I'm here with another card for Cheery Lynn Designs. I don’t know about you, but I like to step outside my comfort zone and push myself to try something new. I often find that the results are surprisingly fun and easier than anticipated! This week I pushed myself to create a window card.

I started by selecting the lovely Nautical Wheeler Doily which has a center cut out, saving the center diecut for the inside of my card. Before attaching the doily to the card, I found the center of the card using the window of the Silver Stacker Layer and cut a hole in the front of the of the card. After cutting the window, I attached the doily diecut.

Now I am ready to adhere the center diecut, but first I dressed it up by backing it with a Scalloped Circle, and attached a chipboard sticker. To complete the card, I added Pair of Ferns, and leaves from Stacker Flower #1 under the bow.

Hello! Today I have a card to share with you. To start, I lightly stamped the background. Using my distress ink, I added subtle bits of color. Rather than adding layers, I wanted a soft look so I stitched a border. Keeping it light and soft, I layered a few of the dies starting with the Large Sunflower Doily pulled to one side. Next I placed the Border Carnivale horizontally across the card. Then, layered the Fanciful Flourish, tucking in a few leaves from the Small Leaves #2 set. I wrapped the card with ribbon and bow. I added a few flowers I created using the Cuties #3 and Miniature Rose dies. I really love that I can make such fabulous flowers to match my projects! I topped the flowers and flourish with a butterfly from the Exotic Butterfly small #2 set.

Hello! Cheery Lynn Designs is releasing several new dies today!

The new dies I am featuring are: Large Sunflower Doily; Japanese Garden Lace Oval; Tangled Hearts; Two of Hearts; Cuties #1, #2, #3; and the Miniature Rose.

Here is a close up of the Tangled Hearts border and the Japanese Garden Lace Oval.

Using dimensional foam adhesive, I layered the small and large heart from Two of Hearts. I just love that I can now create my own little flowers to match my layout! These flowers were created using Miniature Rose and Cuties #3. I also added some leaves cut from Small Leaves #2.

Doesn’t that Large Sunflower Doily add a lot of pizzaz?! The large flower was made using three layers from the Stacker Flower #3, topped with two layers of circles from the Scalloped Window Stackers that I slit on the scallops. To the left I adhered the small heart from Two of Hearts with dimensional foam adhesive. Notice the branches tucked in? They are from the Japanese Garden Lace Oval set. The assortment of mini flowers were created using Cuties #1, #2, #3, and Miniature Rose. They are so lovely and fun to create! Around the boquete, I’ve tucked in an assortment of leaves from Small Leaves #2 and Stacker Flowers #1. A butterfly from Exotic Butterfly small #2 set adorns the top. Along the bottom you can see lace cut from Border Carnivale and Lace Light Deco Border.

to "Die"-cut for!

Hello! I’m here today bringing you another layout full of goodies using my dies from Cheery Lynn Designs.

I started by using the sketch for the November challenge at My Minds Eye. I cut the Anastasia Border in brown to dress up the edges of the layout and add a bit of femininity. I tucked the Mega Tea Party doily die under as my bottom layer. Isn’t that doily just beautiful! I just received the die this week and I couldn't wait to put it to work. I have to tell you, it cuts absolutely beautifully as well!

I adhered the tag with dimension foam. Under the tag, I slipped in the Fanciful Flourish and some leaves from the Small Leaves #2 set. Resting on top, ready to take flight is a butterfly from the Small Exotic Butterfly #2 set.

Notice the small doily layered on the bottom? It is the center from the Polynesian Sails Oval. I created a flower and cut leaves from the Frangipani with Leaves set. I slipped in the top portion of a fern from Pair of Ferns set. I also tucked in a couple more leaves from the Small Leaves #2 set. Resting atop is a butterfly from the Exotic Butterfly Mini set.

The larger flower is two layers cut from Stacker Flower #5. I staggered the layers as I adhered them. After inserting a second flower and some leaves from the Frangipani with Leaves set, I tucked in some leaves cut from the Stacker Flowers #1 Leaf and Small Leaves #2 set. Again I also slipped in a Fanciful Flourish and a fern from the Pair of Ferns set. At the bottom of the photo you get a nice view of the die from Border Carnivale. It creates such a beautiful lace. Definitely one of my favorites!

Fun with Felt

Happy Saturday! I'm back again with a card for Cheery Lynn Designs, and another cool tip!

I chose the Circle Scallop die for the base of my card, using the Stacker Nesting Dies to create the top layer. After cutting a border, I dressed it up by applying the Anastasia Border across the top and bottom. Flowers are everywhere and made of all types of mediums. This week I created my flower by cutting the Stacker Flower #5 from felt. I cut two flowers, staggering them as I adhered them.
I finished the center of the flower with a Vintage setting and the Round 14 tool I just won from Epiphany Crafts. I cut apart the Stacker flower #1 Leaf and attached the leaves around the flower. Lastly, I placed the flower on top of the Victorian Romance Flourish. Once complete, I adhered the flower to the card.

Goodies Galore!

Thank you so much for stopping in today! Today is my turn to post at Cheery Lynn Designs.

I’ve taken my dies into the masculine world again! How about a shaped masculine card?!

By first folding my cardstock and letting my die hang slightly over the folded edge, I cut the base (red cardstock) of my card using the Inverted Scallop Circle. I cut the next layer (plaid) using the Circle Stacker Nesting Dies. I can’t tell you how much I love the Nesting Dies and Stackers! They are designed to fit inside each other taking all the guess work out!!

I cut a Coved Rectangle to layer my chipboard sticker and sentiment on. I adhered the coved rectangle and chipboard with dimensional foam to add life to the card.

Today is my final post at Quick Quotes. I want to extend a huge thank you to Quick Quotes for inviting me to be the Guest Designer for the month!!! I had a fabulous time!!

For my final project, I decided to step outside the box and create some Holiday goodies!

A mix of Savvy Davvy, Damsel in Distress, and Cherry Truffle come together for a card of more traditional colors. I cut one shadow and two snowflakes using my Cricut Expression and Winter Lace cartridge. I layered the snowflakes using foam tape adding more dimension to the card.

To create the sentiment, I wrote the word out using a pencil then stitched over my pencil markings. Other ingredients: Jenni Bowlin pin, DMC floss, Imaginsce bling, ribbon and lace unknown.

A mix of papers from Savvy Davvy and Miss Morgan blend well together to create a holiday card of non-traditional colors. The tree was cut using Cricut Expression, gypsy, and Christmas cartridge. Other ingredients: EKSuccess punches, Twine from The Twinery, and metal studs from Imaginesce, Ranger Stickles

The sleigh was formed using a mix of Savvy Davvy and Damsel in Distress. The pattern for the sleigh was found at

www.clearandsimplestamps.com The holly was cut using the Cricut Expression and Seasons Cartridge. Other ingredients: Making Memories brads; metal studs from Imaginsce, and ribbon unknown.

Tutorial and My Minds Eye

I created this card using the October sketch from My Minds Eye! Looove their products and thought I would play along with this months card challenge using a mix of products from the Lime Twist and Stella & Rose lines.

I used dies from Cheery Lynn Designs to create the background, blue border, leaves, and butterfly.

Thank you for the wonderful comments on my glass etching. I created a tutorial for you so you can create your own etching to enjoy!

I cut the die from a piece of scrap vinyl…which I must say it cut beautifully!! I applied the cut vinyl to transfer tape, then very carefully removed the backing….you have to go slow with all the flourishes!

I centered my diecut on the glass and used a flat tool to make sure I got the vinyl down tight with no air bubbles. You don’t want the etching cream to leak under any areas.

Remove the transfer tape and apply the etching cream (I used Armour Etch). Read the instructions and wait the allotted time letting the etching cream work. Rinse off the cream. Remove the vinyl diecut. Admire your handy work!!

Friday means Challenge day at Quick Quotes!

Today’s layout features Quick Quotes gorgeous Damsel in Distress line and their Glitter Diecuts …very beautiful adhesive chipboard pieces!!!

Today’s challenge is to create handmade flowers for your layout.

To create the ribbon flower, I cut a small square of cardboard and applied a dollop of my favorite quick dry glue. Starting in the center, I carefully wound the ribbon around until I had the flower as big and full as I wanted it. After the glued dried, I cut off the excess cardboard and added a brad in the center.

Using my Cricut Expression and pattern paper, I cut three sizes of scalloped circles for each of the paper flowers. I cut little slits at each scallop to create petals. Using a piece of sponge, I applied Quick Quotes Powder Puffs ink to the edges and center of the flowers for a bit of variation of color in the flowers. I finished by stacking the three layers together and adhered with a brad. Once complete, I scrunched and curled the petals with my finger tips.

A quick and fun little goodie box for your friends, teachers and neighbors!

I wish I could claim this idea but I found it at Rose’s World. It is so darn adorable that I just had to give it a try! The green from the Quick Quote's Savvy Davvy line makes the perfect Frankie!

Box:

1. Cut a 4 ¼” x 10 ½” piece of cardstock.

2. Score the long side at 2 ½ “, 5”, 7 ½ “, and 10”

3.Score the short side at 1 ½”

4. Fold along the score lines

5. Cut at the 2 ½”, 5”, 7 ½”, and 10” score lines up to the 2 ½” score line.

6. At the 10” score line, cut out the ½” remaining tab.

7. Apply adhesive along the ½” tab and assemble side

8. Assemble the bottom of the box

9. For the eyes, punch out two ¾” white circles, one ¾” circle in green, two ½” circles in black.

10 Draw in the mouth with black marker.

Lid:

1. Cut a 4 ½” square

2. Punch around the edges to create “hair”

3. Score at 7/8” all the way around.

4. On two opposite ends, slit the score line up to the 7/8” line to create tabs

5. Assemble the lid

A quick post to share with you a layout I created for My Creative Sketches contest. Not heard of them?! It is a new sketch site created by the owner of My Creative Scrapbook. Stop by and say hi! The ladies are wonderful, and if you are interested in a kit, Pam has a variety of gorgeous selections every month!!This layout was created using the September Limited Edition kit from My Creative Scrapbook. I opted to try something different. I cut out the inside of the paper, leaving the outside border. I added a few layers of cutwork under the border and popped the layers and border over and around my layout for a shadow box effect.

I did lots of fussy cutting, and used a few of my dies from Cheery Lynn Designs.

Cheery Lynn October releases!!

Cheery Lynn Designs is releasing some fabulous new dies today!! I had the pleasure of playing…I mean WORKING with a few of these gorgeous dies!

Isn’t this Lacey Pumpkin Patch die just gorgeous?! After cutting the die, I dabbed ink in orange, green, and red. I added a jewel to the center of the flower and some stickles for fall sparkle. I adhered the lacey pumpkin to a diecut from the Coved Rectangle -Classic set, raising the entire piece on pop dots. I cut a few leaves using the SM Leaves 2 set to add to the fallish flair.

Did you notice the embossed background?! That is the newly released Pumpkin Patch embossing plate! It is sooo pretty! I lightly chalked over the embossed areas to make them stand out.

And last but not least, the Fall Harvest 2 die! Isn’t it stunning?! My first thought was how beautiful it would be in stained glass! From their my mind wandered to the idea of glass etching. I’ve really never tried glass etching before, but this beautiful die prompted me to give it a whirl!!

More Cheery Lynn fun today! I’m going to start with a card I created for an upcoming wedding. I wanted tone on tone but you know me, I needed texture so I cut a doily from the same pattern paper that I used for the background. The doily really dressed up the papers, but using by using the same tone paper keeps from overpowering the rest of the card. I created the flower by cutting three layers of petals, then inked and folded the petals for dimension.

As soon as I saw the papers in the Boys Rule kit, I knew the Inverted Scallop Circles would be the perfect touch!!! The circles come in 6 different sizes offering a wide range of uses. I love that the Sliver Stacker Layers fit perfectly inside Nesting dies taking all the guess work out and leaving more room for fun!

One of the little circles even fit perfectly inside the chipboard planet! How fun and easy is that?!

My layout features Quick Quotes Miss Morgan line. I love to cut designs from pattern paper to use as elements/embellishments on my layouts. Here I cut the quote from the pattern paper and adhered them with pop dots for more dimension, as well as a flourish, flower, birdcages, and birds.

Notice the Frosty Flowers?! They are fun embellisments from Quick Quotes. I used a doily die and picket fence die from Cheery Lynn Designs cut from the pattern papers to enhance the flowers.

Hello!!!

It is an exciting day for me and I am so happy that you stopped in to share it with me! Not only am I creating my first post for Cheery Lynn Designs, but I get to announce that I am the October Guest Designer for Quick Quotes!!!

Cheery Lynn Dies are BEAUTIFUL and cut amazingly well!! I am sooo excited to be working with the company!! Here is my first official reveal for Cheery Lynn Designs!

When a person thinks of the flourish and flowers dies we typically think of spring and summer flowers. I wanted to show that they also look great in fall colors!

I used the newly released Stacker Flower #5 cutting 3 pieces, then used the Scalloped Window Stackers to create the various sizes. I cut the Stacker Flower #1 Leaf in orange/orange core’dinations cardstock and sanded to add to the fall look.

I added some fall leaves from the SM Leaves 2…aren’t the acorns cute too! The leaf and acorn dies emboss as well as cut adding more life to the dies. I cut the acorns from brown/kraft core’dinations cardstock and then sanded…look how well they emboss! The Fanciful Flourish is cut from the brown/kraft core’dinations cardstock as well. Sticking with the fall theme, I cut the Ferns with an orangish/redish pattern paper then added a bit of distress inks for more color. The details on the Small Dragonfly are amazing as well!

Notice the lacy edges?! Yes! That is a die as well! That is the newly released gorgeous Border Carnivale die. The details are incredible!

Today’s reveal features the stunning Cherry Truffle line, with a little splash of blue/green from the Savvy Davvy line, as well as the quote. The doily was cut from the Damsel in Distress line using the English Tea Party doily die from Cheery Lynn Designs.

I used the Fanciful Flourish die, and Exotic Butterfly mini dies from Cheery Lynn Designs to bring life to the flowers.

Fairy fun

Today I have a fun little project for you! This is the second reveal using my kit for Shawn Davis Designs featuring the gorgeous fairy papers from Graphic 45, a Maya Road tin, and Maya Road chipboard.

I just love the little fairy kneeling!! Everyone knows a waterfall is a must in the enchanted forest! The waterfall in my background is a photo I took of the waterfall at a park near my home. I fussy cut the leaves from the Pink Paislee papers (also included in the kit) and adhered them at various depths.

I covered each of the chipboard pieces with a coat of Distress paints, then inked some of the cracks for a more distress look. I hand cut each of the fairies and placed them among some leaf branches that I cut using my Cricut Expression and Storybook cartridge.

I love this quote! I printed it on a transparency and glued the transparency to the back of the chipboard. Of course I had to apply a thin layer of stickles to the fairies wings!

Birthday Banner

Do you have fun plans for the long holiday weekend? I start my weekend with the first football game of the season tonight. Tomorrow is my baby’s 18th birthday *sigh* How fast time flies! Sunday we are having a big party to celebrate my grandmothers 90th birthday! Monday I think I will take time to rest!!

My mother asked me to create a banner for the birthday celebration. Rather than using festive birthday papers, I wanted to create the banner from patterns and colors that remind me of my grandmother. This is what I came up with.

I love using my Gypsy to

size my shapes, and locate placement of the cut on my papers exactly where I want them saving time, paper, and money! My banner was created using Lovely Floral, Storybook, and Cindy Loo cartridges. To add dimension to the banner, I adhered each layer with foam dots. For fun, I created a birdhouse between the word and numbers.

Today, I am sharing my second reveal for Shawn Davis Designs. Focusing on the adorable chipboard pieces in the kit, I made a centerpiece/gift, invitation, and cupcakes for a baby boy shower.

I started by creating a little banner to decorate the basket. The pennant pieces were cut using the Cricut Expression and Country Life Cartridge.

I created wraps for the bottles and diapers buy punching a border and stitching it to at plain strip. I cut frames using my Spellbinders dies, then attached a chipboard piece in the center.

The cupcake wrappers and toppers were cut using the Cricut Expression and Life’s A Party cartridge.

Also using Life’s A Party, I cut the onesie card and decorated it with another of the chipboard pieces.

Here is the first of my monthly reveal for Shawn Davis Designs. My kit this month contained the most adorable baby boy goodies. These are photos of my son at a day old. He’s going to be 18 in two weeks! *sniff sniff* Where does the time go?!

Precious Memories

I’m here today with another Nuts About Sketches reveal! #173

I was tickled that my son and his girlfriend would pose for a photo! The photo turned out great and I new right away that I wanted to do something with a romantic feel. My July kit from My Creative Scrapbook contained just the perfect papers from Websters Pages and My Minds eye, as well as gorgeous Prima embellishments, combined with the gorgeous dies from Cheery Lynn Designs and I was all set!

Here is a close up showing the inticate detail of the English Tea Doily die. Isn't that just the sweetest dainty touch layered in there! Aren't those flourishes just the perfect added detail? I fussy cut the gazebo as well as some flowers from the Websters Pages papers. I layered the flowers here and there attaching some with pop dots for dimension.

I just looove the Exotic Butterflie dies!! I adhered both butterflies with pop dots for a bit more dimension.

I also fussy cut the journaling block and adhered with pop dots.

An exciting moment

I am so excited and happy to share with you that I was asked to Guest Design at Cheery Lynn Designs today!! Since we will be celebrating my grandmothers birthday later in the month, I chose to create a birthday card. The doily dies are so beautiful and intricate. Using the English Tea Party Die, I cut the doily from BoBunny Gabrielle Romance, adding just the perfect feminine touch to these gorgeous BoBunny papers. The Exotic Butterfly mini dies were cut from the Gabrielle Flight paper. I added a little stickles. Aren’t they gorgeous?! The flourish die is also from Cheery Lynn Designs (Fanciful Flourish) and is a definite favorite of my stash!!

I’ve also used the BoBunny card sketch to create my card. If you haven’t created a card yet, there is still time to play along!

All Aboard!!

Hello! I came back from vacation to have my computer crash a couple days later! Aack! Thankfully they were able to recover all my info and photos! Whew! This was the 4th trip to the shop since the beginning of the year! Hopefully we’ve got all issues resolved now!

Here is another project I created with my Shawn Davis Designs kit. Shawn sent me this adorable little Maya Road train mini album along with these adorable My Minds Lime Twist papers. I compiled some of my favorite photos of both my boys together through out the years.

A closeup of the back cover.To create the wheels, I cut circles with my cricut. Then, again using the cricut, I cut rings slightly smaller and adhered them with pop dots for a bit of dimension and interest.

We had the most wonderful time on vacation…our first vacation in four years! We got some much needed time to sit back, relax, and enjoy creating some wonderful memories with family!!

My July kit from Shawn Davis Designs contained papers from My Minds Eye Lime Twist. The patterns and colors were perfect for some of my son’s football photos!

I sanded the edges of the larger photo for a bit of texture and masculinity. The smaller photo was layered and attached with foam dots, as well as some stars cut from the pattern paper adding dimension and texture to the layout.

Using my Cricut Expression and Life’s a Party Cartridge, I created the Star/flourish. I added Ranger Crackle Accents to the center of the flourish, adding to the masculine feel of the layout.

I layered a Spellbinders die, hand cut banner, and some stickers to create my title.

Nuts About Sketches reveal #169

Time to share another sketch from Nuts About Sketches! I stuck true to the sketch, adding a few extra layers.

I created the layout using some of my favorite papers from Sassafras Las. I fussy cut flowers and leaves from the Smitten line. Using my Helmar Zapdots, I layered the flowers adding dimension around my Prima flowers.
Don't you just love the butterflies?! I cut them from my new Cheery Lynn Designs dies and spritzed them with yellow and Bubblegum Glimmer Mist. Their delicate designs add to the softness of the layout.
I'm off on vacation for the rest of the week for some much needed relaxation and family time! See you when I return!!

A Real Treasure

Popping in quick today to share a card I created using my Cricut Expression and the Life’s a Party cartridge. Have you seen this cartridge?! I picked it up last week and it is definitely one of my new favorites!!! Soooo many cute unexpected goodies on it!
Sadly, my great nephew was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. I wanted to send him a card letting him know that we are thinking of him, and what a real treasure he is to us, and what more appropriate than a treasure chest!

I cut the chest from brown on brown Core’dinations cardstock. After my chest was cut, I embossed the top and bottom flaps using my Cuttlebug and Argyle embossing folder; then I lightly sanded the embossed areas. You can’t have treasure without adding bling so I covered the lock and “treasure” in stickles.

I decorated the inside with accessories cut from the Life’s a Party cartridge.

Heartstrings

Aren’t these photos of my nieces hubby and baby just precious?! No doubt a daddy that love his little girl! I left the journaling card and date blank for my niece to fill in with her own loving memories and words. Nuts About Sketches #166 reveal. I used the right page and flipped it. You can find the sketch here. All pattern papers, stickers, buttons, and rubons are from October Afternoon; bling - Imaginisce; bakers twine - the Twinery; punches - Martha Stewart/EK Success.
I love how the border punches add pizzazz and pop to the layout and yet can be so subtle that you hardly notice them. Some of the other details include lots of stitching, stickers layered with various depths of foam adhesive, bling to the center of the flower, and a rubon in the corner of the photo.

I cut the heart from felt and applied the rubon directly to the felt. I don’t think I would try this with rubons from certain companies, but I’ve always had great luck with the rubons from October Afternoon and once again, it applied super slick!! “The Good Stuff” scallop circle and “priceless” tag are also October Afternoon rubons that I applied to pattern paper and hand cut to embellish the layout.

I wove the bakers twine through my sticker letters for a fun twist to my title!

Nuts About Sketches #165 and some Hybrid fun!!

It has been so cold and gloomy here for so long. I am ready for some fun in the summer sun! I decided since the sun refuses to peek through I would pull some of Echo Parks fun color popping papers to brighten my world! Nuts About Sketches reveal #165
I tucked the bottom of the sun under the photo, yet adhered the top of the sun with a pop dot. I also added some stitching and stickles to the sun for texture and a bit of sparkle! I layered small stickers over the large corrugated letters for a fun twist to the title.
I stepped outside my comfort zone and purchased the Echo Park Hybrid Summer Days Elements #1 package from Jessica Sprauge. I have never tried hybrid before. I really wanted some of the cute stickers and chipboard pieces but they were not available at my LSS so I decided to take the plunge and discovered a whole new world! I have a habit of “saving” stickers/chipboard pieces for “just the right thing” but was freed from that feeling to not only use what I wanted, but to be able to print it in the size I wanted!! The green scallop border, as well as all the embellishments on this layout are hybrid! …except for the obvious buttons, bling, bakers twine, and corrugated letters
I added some stickles and bling to the elements for a bit of summer fun and sparkle, then attached them various depths of foam dots for depth and texture.

Today I am sharing my second project of the month for Shawn Davis Designs featuring Fancy Pants papers and chipboard flowers from Sassafras Las.
I distressed the chipboard flowers with my sanding tool, and adhered them with different sizes of pop dots to add more depth to the layout.
Shawn also included some beautiful Making Memories metal frames in my kit.
I folded ribbon into little loops for a bit of unexpected interest and texture.

Fun Gift Set

Today I am sharing a little gift set I created using my kit from Shawn Davis Designs featuring Fancy Pants the Little Things line.

I used some Spellbindes dies to creat the background, the adhered them with foam dots for dimension.

I created the bow using the tutorial I found here.

Again, I used Spellbinders Dies to cut the background. This time I cut from Spellbinders Foil and used some black paint to give the piece and distressed feel mimicking the Memory Makers metal frame on the card.

Cosmos Cricket challenged their readers to use the mini 6x6 papers on a layout. I have a few of those cute little pads, but was a little stumped on using them on layouts so took the challenge head on!! I could have made things a little simpler for myself by punching a bunch of similar shapes and adding them in rows, but I wasn’t going to let myself off that easy! I needed to figure out a way to use my usual layers. Inspired by sketch from Pagemaps, this is what I came up with!

Little details like stitching can change the feel of the layout!

I used a shape scissors to add some fun to the leaves.

I adhered my journaling strips with foam dots.

Fun Fold Out Mini!

I found the instructions for the cutest little mini fold out album at Splitcoast Stampers. I want to share one I created for a baby gift! It's a blend of Jillibean Soup papers, my monthly scrapbook kit from Shawn Davis Designs, and Imaginisce I-rock goodies!!

Using my Jillibean stamp and VersaMark stamp pad, I stamped a few flowers onto the yellow polka dot. After embossing the flowers with clear glitter embossing powder, I finished them off by attaching Imaginisce jewels using my I-rock!

I trimmed some punch pieces to create the frame around the edge. The Jillibean Soup patterns and colors are perfect for a baby book!

Using my Imaginisce I-rock, I added a splash of bling throughout the mini.

Machine stitching, faux stitching, and doodling added a lot of character to the book. The flowers, and scallop rectangles were cut using my Cricut Expression from cartridges Walk in my Garden (flowers), and Storybook (scallop rectangles).

I have a little catch up to do after last weeks blogger fiasco. I am going to start the week with a reveal for Nuts About Sketches.

I just love these papers by My Little Shoebox, and they have the cutest matching accessories but for some reason I seem to struggle with putting them together. They are so adorable that I will keep practicing!!

Aren’t these diecuts and stickers just adorable?! I added pop dots for dimension, and a little bling for pizzazz.

The branch w/birdhouses is another adorable sticker. I added some stickles to the leaves for a bit of sparkle. The clouds were cut from the pattern paper, adhered with pop dots, and covered in stickles.

Isn’t she just precious?! After scrapping mainly boys for so many years, I am delighted to scrap some pink frilly goodness! The cardstock, ink, chipboard and lovely felt flower are courteous of my kit from Shawn Davis Designs. She hand makes the felt flowers herself! Aren’t they adorable!!

Here is a close up of Shawn’s handmade felt flower.

Using my Cricut Expression and Storybook Cartridge, I cut the circles for my handmade flowers. Before assembling the flowers, I inked the edges for a bit of color. The leaves were also cut from the Storybook Cartridge. Using my i-rock from Imaginisce, I added a splash of sparkle here an there adding to the femiinine feel.

Using the ink from my kit, I covered a chipboard butterfly from my stash. After the ink had dried, I stamped the word/music image onto the butterfly. I finished the butterfly off with a hand stitched trail.

I love using my Gypsy when cutting! Not only can I use the layer feature to see how everything aligns before it cuts, it also allows me to weld letters together as I did in the shadow of my title!

Saturday Spectacular!!

Simple. Sweet. Divine.

I wanted to make something for my son’s new apartment that is masculine and functional. When I came across these MDF Kaisercraft coasters I knew just what to do!

To cover the backs and edges of the coasters, I chose Kaisercraft paint in Sage so it would blend in with the organic feel of my photos. I chose a variety of scenic photos I had taken in our area giving them a bit of a homey feeling for my son.

Once I had attached the photos to the coasters, I applied Kaisercraft rubons with encouraging quotes giving each coaster a bit more meaning, and a little message from mom!

Sugar & Spice

I just love that my mom saved the entire series of these photos, pout and all!
I chose to use a couple of different lines helping to keep the vintage feel of the photos, yet bring out the pop of green and orange in the dress and bow.

The flowers are homemade by using a blend of Kaisecraft lace, flowers, and brads.

The stitched circle was inspired by the stitching on the front of the dress.

To create the flourishes, I broke a wooden Kaisercraft flourish in to separate parts. I covered each piece with copper metallic paint, then rubbed with Kaisercraft Slate ink to give more of a rustic vintage feel.

For You
This would make a lovely card for any celebration…birthday, thinking of you, and even wedding!
The flowers were fussy cut from pattern paper and tucked in for a splash of color. I combined a the outer flourish/box portion of a journaling rubon with a sentiment rubon to create the sentiment block for my card. After applying the rubons to my paper, I cut around the edge of the image for a more formal look. A splash of pearls adds to the elegance of the card.

Best Wishes
Once again, I applied some fussy cut flowers for a splash of color. Each layer of the sentiment block is adhered with dimensional foam. The string of Kaisercraft pearls, along with the large pearls brad add a bit of texture and elegance to the card.

Through the Pages of Time
I had the most fun creating this MDF clock from Kaisercraft!! I chose patterns with a neutral color so my photos would pop.

Once the paper for the top of the clock had been adhered and had dried, I grabbed my Kaisercraft stamps, clear embossing powder, and an assortment of inks. Because I wanted the stamped image to be faint, I used a clear embossing pad to stamp the images. I also wanted a more distressed look to the image so I chose to emboss with a thicker powder. After the images had been embossed, I rubbed my inks over the embossed area drawing out the image. I chose to use a variety of colors giving the entire project a hint more color.

I used my Kaisercraft rubons for the numbers, and thought some Kaisercraft pearls would make a great addition in place of the other numbers, as well as adding a dash of elegance to the project.

These Kaisercraft wood flourishes are gorgeous. Rather than adding color, I preferred to leave them in they natural state and added a layer of clear stickles over the top for a bit of sophistication.

Beautiful
I just love the fun bright colors of this line!! They remind me of my sister-in-law….fun, cheery, always wearing a bright smile!

I’ve been saving this quote for just the right time, and this glittery teapot paper was the perfect fit!! I cut the teapot, cup, and cake from the pattern paper. The flowers were created by adding several layers of my Kaisercraft flowers and bunching them together.

Boy Will Be Boys
The colors and patterns of this line are ideal for my outdoorsy teenage boy photos!

Whether I am looking for sentiments, titles, or embellishments I know I can find a good assortment in my Kaisercraft rubon stash!! This layout is no exception !! I applied rubon stitching, borders, and title! I created the fun circle embellishments by applying my rubons to cardstock and cutting around the image. By adhering them with pop dots, I was able to give them some dimension. To create texture for my masculine layout, I cut stars from a variety of mediums such as cardboard, corduroy fabric, and a scrap of denim from hubby’s pants.

To create my title, I applied a coat of Kaisercraft Slate ink to the Kaisercraft neutral chipboard letters. Once the ink dried, I dry brushed Kaisercraft White paint over a piece of mesh to produce the distress checkered look.

To My Friend
I am so fortunate to have such incredible and amazing friends. This card is a salute to them, for they have most certainly touched my heart forever!!

The sentiment is a Kaisercraft diecut that I distressed around the edges, dressed up with a lace border, and added a splash of pearls for elegance!

Imaginisce fun!

This cute little flower pot card has been around for a while but I just had to make one for my cousin. She is struggling through a rough recovery after back surgery and I thought this delightful little pop out bouquet would be the perfect fun card to brighten her day!

I created the little pocket flower pot using the instructions shown here. I used my Cricut Expression and Walk in my Garden cartridge to cut the flowers, leaves and tools. I love the layer feature on the Gypsy to line up my flower layers so I know exactly what I am getting before I cut! It is also a great way to flip some of the leaves so I can see how they will align in my project before I cut them out.

Making sure a large heart was centered in the punch, I created flower centers using my i-top. I added a bit of sparkle and detail using my i-rock and bling. To add the sentiment and lady bug, I pulled my All Occasion Build-A-Card Pad and cut apart a sentiment sticker. The words fit perfectly at the bottom of the flower pot, and the adorable lady bug is just the perfect touch sitting on top of a flower! I just placed the sticker on a piece of white scrap, then cut around the image and adhered using a pop dot!

I used one of the sentiment blocks for the end of the tools. Another great feature of the Gypsy is that I can place exactly where I want to cut so it takes the guessing game out and makes it much easier when cutting small pieces of paper or scraps!

Nuts About Sketches #156

Time for another Nuts About Sketches reveal! To create the sketch I used the stunning April Kit from Tally Scrapper full of beautiful papers, and gorgeous embellishments to match! The April kit is sold out already, but the Pre-order for the May Kit is up and definitely worth every penny!! Her kits have been selling out fast so don’t hurry before May is gone too!!

Yep, that’s me at 16. Seems like yesterday, although my body is beginning to tell me otherwise! LOL! It’s even harder for me to grasp that both my kids are older than I am here!!

I wanted something a bit different for my butterfly so I added a bit of the tulle and American Crafts brad from the kit.

The chipboard butterflies are sooo fun to decorate as your own, but I discovered I really really need to get myself the Imaginisce D-stress tool!!

I pulled an old Prima flower and flourish from my stash, you know the stuff you hoard for “just the right thing!”

This in an old gold vintage doily that I acquired from my mom’s stash. The gold wasn’t working with my colors, so I dabbed a bit of white paint here and there on it!

Getting Sassy!

Family…the most precious treasure in life. This is one of my favorite photos from my childhood. I’m so thankful that someone took time to make sure a 4 generation photo was taken. Do you take generation photos? I have some of my oldest son with grands and greats within his first 5 years, and none with the second child until he was 14ish. Why don’t we take time to do that when we are together? I really need to make an effort to do it more often!

I just love the soft vintage feel of the Sassafras Lass Sweetly Smitten line. The colors and patterns may not be ideal for the photo, but they remind me of my grandmothers home therefore matching my memories perfectly!

I fussy cut some flowers from pattern paper. Gently bending the petals gave some dimension. I tucked a few small doilies and netting into the bouquet to add to the soft feel of the page.

It’s Monday, and time for my reveal at Nuts About Sketches. I opted to turn this weeks sketch to the side, making it more suitable for my choice of photos.

For added interest, I punched a Kraft boder and attached it to the center block. Using long pieces of foam tape, I adhered the center block to the background paper so the entire center block is raised off the background paper!

Are you enjoying your weekend? I’ve had a fabulous, fun, scrappy weekend full of laughter and late nights with a super friend!!! We live a few hours apart and getting our schedules to coordinate can make it tough to get together very often. This was an overdue, long awaited treat!!!

Today, I am sharing with you a card that I created for the challenge on Nikki Sivils blog. Going with the Love theme for the challenge, I hand cut some cute little cookies from the Sugar Cookie line. The addition of a cardboard heart dry brushed with a dab of my Ranger Distress paint for dimension and color. I machine stitched another heart overlapping the cardboard heart. A sprinkling of buttons and bling, and as well as a couple hearts adhered with pop dots makes for a fun card to let your friends know how sweet they are!

Flower fun!

As spring approaches, our surrounding blossom into newly refreshed life. It is much to cold and snowy here for flowers yet so I went to work having fun creating my own little indoor blossoms!

I added a little twist to my layers. Leaving the bottom layer straight still giving a nice clean feel. I applied a coat of Ranger Distress Rock Candy to a couple of the birdhouses, and Ranger Glossy Accents to the bird. I dry brushed a dab of Ranger Distress paint to my Jillibean Soup corrugated flowers. While the paint dried, I created a paper rosette to use as one flower center.

I adheared a button tied with a burlap string for the other flower center and attached to a denim flower cut from a pieces of hubby‘s pants. I love the added texture from the Jillibean Soup Bean Seed leaves!

My favorite flowers on here are some I created by using my Jillibean stamp and some burlap!! I put the button sticker onto a chipboard circle to give it more dimension.

I hand stitched around the Jillibean Soup Sprout. Again using my Ranger Rock Candy paint, I dry brushed a bit around the edges of the numbers. I created the charm by hand cutting a heart and adhering it to silver mirror cardstock.

I cut around the heart leaving a silver edge mimicking a metal frame. Once cut, I applied a heavy coat of Ranger glossy accents to mimic a glass cover. Using a pieces of craft wire, I formed a ring and tied a piece of Jillibean Soup Bean Stalks through and tied to the number three.

I used pop dots through out the layout for dimension and added interest!

After this long snowy winter, I’ve been holding up pretty well. Mother Nature teased us with a couple gorgeous beautiful 50 degree days and now I have a bad case of spring fever! What better way to brighten the indoors with a fun bright bouquet of flowers. Since the climate here isn’t suitable for flowers yet, I decided to create my own, including the watering can to display them in! I even brought in the bees! :-)

I saved the pattern for the watering can some time ago. I’d love to give credit where credit is due, but I honestly don’t remember.…I’ve since learned to write these things down! Please accept my appology.

Using my Doodlecharms and Walk in my Garden cartridges, I cut a variety of flower shapes with my Cricut Expression. Adhering multiple layers gave my flowers dimension.

How about a couple cute little bees for fun and whimsy! I stamped two images for each bee. I cut a long piece of craft wire and wrapped it around a pencil a few times to create the curls. After cutting out the image and preparing the wire, I applied a layer of adhesive to the bees and adhered them back to back, sandwiching the wire in-between.

Hello hello! I’m popping in today with a card for the Imaginisce Blog challenge.
I decided to have a bit of fun with the three strips in the sketch by embossing each of the strips and adding a mini punched border to each edge.

The addition of the jewels and pearls added to the soft femininity I was aiming for. I cut the flowers from pattern paper, curled the edges, and attached with pop dots for a bit of texture and dimension.

It’s Friday!! Time for some fun!! These are some of my all-time favorite photos of my boys. You would think that at this age they could sit still for a photo shoot, but I’m glad they were themselves. I’m thrilled that the photographer caught it on camera! Their silliness made for a enjoyable day and amusing photos! I’ve been hoarding these photos for a couple years. When I saw the cute little monsters from Jillibean Soup, I instantly thought of these photos!

I fussy cut the monsters from the pattern paper and tucked them here and there peeking out , being silly just like my boys!

To create the calendar, I stamped onto cork and cut around the image. I also ran a strip of cork through my border punch to create the scallop border under the photos.

I used pop dots to add dimension and interest when adhering the title as well as embellishments.

Another layout today! A little something just for fun!

I love this photo of my son and his girlfriend taken a couple weeks before he left for Japan. I combined the black and white photo with softer colors to let the photo stand out and speak for itself!

I created the embossed butterfly with a Stampin'Up die. I chose white for the flourish feeing subtle would be better.

A hand cut heart and hand "grown" flowers to finish it off!

Nuts About Sketches Reveal

I’m so excited!! Today is my first reveal for Nuts About Sketches!!

Jillibean Soup- pattern paper; cardboard letters, stickers, bean stalks, stamp, spots; buttons- Basic Grey, vintage; Sassafrass-flowers; Making Memories-tag; Ranger - Distress Inks, Distress Paints, Stickles; Stampin’ Up marker; other- denim, burlap, cardboard, stitching

I haven’t done much distressing lately and decided a farm layout was the perfect place to bring it back in! I created the flower background using my Ranger Distress Inks, and a Jillibean Soup Stamp.

You know I have to add texture and dimension! To create the “farm” I cut around the farm scene, from a second farm scene, I fussy cut the barn, tractor/trailer, and hens. What's a farm without trees? I attached all the pieces with pop dots. Notice the open barn doors?! Using a scrap of cardboard, I dry brushed the edges with Ranger Distress Paints for the land.

The denim flowers were cut from a pair of Hubby’s old pants!

How about a little burlap edging.

Don’t you just love the look of wonder on my great-nieces face! This layout will be added to her book, therefore I left the journaling block for her mom to record memories.

Hello everyone! How was your weekend? I spent the weekend at a local crop….my first 3 day crop ever! Can you believe it?! Of course I didn’t accomplish much, but the company was fabulous…and that’s what it’s really about, right!

Here is a card I created over the weekend….It looks like I’ve been on a layout hiatus, doesn’t it? Naawww, they are coming! I’ve been designing items for publication, and a few other suprises so you are going to have to wait a bit to peek! ;0)

Jillibean Soup-pattern paper, tag, stamp, sticker, card base; Coredinations Cardstock; Spellbinders; Kaiser Craft; Ranger Distress Inks; Bobunny; Marvy

Using my Spellbinders die, I cut a lacy circle slightly larger than the sticker and attached to the tag with pop dots. For even more dimension, I also adhered the sticker with a pop dot. A pearl in the center of the birdhouse, and a small cluster next to the sentiment added a bit of femininity to the card.

Playing along with Cardabilities again! Their sketches are always so inspirational!

Contributing to the masculine feel of the card, I added a layer of cardboard and burlap. Dabbing a smidge of crackle paint here and there on the cardboard presented a bit of rustic feel.

I have a tendency to create a sunset or add snow when conjuring the background for the deer, but I have spring fever and added a few flowers to the grass with dot of stickles! I finished it off with a crinkly bow and rustic metal button.

My Minds Eye!

Between the beautiful box of goodies arriving and the super cute sketches at My Minds Eye, I was inspired to play along with My Minds Eye challenge #20!I created an anniversary card from My Minds Eye “be loved” line. I love the heart on the sketch, but going with the “love” theme, I couldn’t resist adding a couple love birds in place of the flower. The birds and leafy branches were cut using my Cricut Expression and the Create A Critter cartridge…I think those birds are just too cute! One of the advantages of the Expression, is the Flip button. I cut the same bird twice, but used “Flip” to cut the second bird. I also cut some of the branches/leaves using “Flip” in order to get the branches to sway in opposite directions! Pretty cool, huh! Stepping out of my comfort zone, I actually cut the heart and scallop by hand!
I attached the birds and little blue/green heart with popdots for dimension.

Cricut Creations!

One of the things on my favorite list is my Cricut Expression! A person can create some amazing things with that machine! Here are some Valentines I created for my daycare kids using my Cricut and the Create A Critter cartridge. Since they were for the kids I didn’t add as much dimension as I normally would so I put more detail in to shading with Distress inks, and chalk. Of course I used lots of stickles to add highlights and sparkle everywhere!! Rather than cards, I wrote a special note on the back just like boxed valentines! They were a big hit with the kids!

The online scrap world has brought some incredible and amazing people into my life. In the past few months, I have been gifted a Gypsy for my Cricut, a big box chock-full, and I mean FULL of beautiful scrap goodies, an RAK from Simply Renee, as well as receiving some fantabulous emails ….all of it from some wonderful women who continually support and encourage my work. Words cannot express my gratitude. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Speaking of hearts, I want to share with you a Valentines card I made with some Nikki Sivils products, and a Sketch from Cardabilities.

The hearts are attached with popdots for dimension, and a rolled felt flower gives some texture!

I finally took a day to just sit and create. What a glorious feeling, to be playing with paper and glue again. It so exhilarating watching bits and pieces come together to form something beautiful…tell me I’m not the only one that gets a rush as ideas collaborate constructing a masterpiece!!

I used Sketchabilities sketch #38 as my inspiration to get the ole wheels turning again. I wanted to jazz up the background cardstock a bit, yet I wanted it to be very subtle so I lightly embossed the corners of Core’dinations cardstock using an embossing folder and my rolling pin; then gently sanded over some of the embossed flowers.
Naturally, I had to alter some embellishments with distress paints, and distress inks!

My first attempt at a rolled felt flower! I am excited with how it turned out. I can see how they could easily turn into another addiction! I’m sure you will see more of them soon! :-)

Changing the pace a little, I created a card to play along with Cardabilities sketch #21.

I'm back!!

Hello!!! Just popping to let you know I am still here!
No matter how much I prepare, the holidays and the end of the year always produces a flurry of activity beginning with the push to get the last of the gifts finished up and wrapped. The girls both love their trays, by the way!! If trying to get to all of the special events, as well as finding time for ourselves wasn’t enough, my poor hubby acquired a nasty flu bug which decided to hang around for about 5 days. Poor guy! Since my husband and I each operate our own business, end of the year also means ..the DREADED tax preparations. Imagine all the time I could have been scrapping rather than book work!! I know, it needs to be done but UGH! The positive factor, I have to say that it feels so good to have every last receipt and paper for 2010 logged and put into storage!!
After the holiday rush and taxes, it was time to concentrate on business preparations for the next few months…sounds important doesn’t it?! I was going to say not really, but I suppose it is. I took some time to dream and scheme up some teaching plans for my daycare kids. I’m not one for letting the kids sit around watching TV all day. I’ve got ABC’s, Numbers, shapes, and colors planned out each week as well as little activities such as science experiments and craft projects to coordinate….don’t worry, it’s not as much like school as it sounds. I figure they are kids and need time to be kids so if we aren’t have fun doing it, then it isn’t worth it!! We are just mixing a little education in with our playtime….I’m trying hard to acquire that happy medium! We performed an experiment yesterday by shaving 3 bars of soap (do you know none of the kids had ever heard of soap coming in bar form?!) and adding a bit of water, lastly we unwound a roll of toilet paper and added it bit by bit. With our hands, we mooshed and smooshed, squished and squashed! Eventually we added spoons for stirring, cups for scooping, and little toys just because! They had so much fun playing in our tub of goo! This week we are learning “Aa” & “8.” In conjunction with that, we made astronauts. I let each child cut 8 stars with the cuttlebug to add for “outer space!” Didn’t they do a great job?!

Things finally seem to be settling back into a regular routine. I even took time to do a bit of scrapping and boy, did it feel good! I hope to get it finished up soon and posted for you to see!

Two more gifts Complete!

Have you worked with one of the 7Gypsies trays? You really ought to try one. I admit I was a bit intimidated at first, but I had so much fun creating these I am going to have to make one for myself now!
I wanted to do something more personable for my sons girlfriends and decided what better gift to give them than their favorite guys!
This is my younger son and since his girlfriend is 15 I wanted something with a bit of fun teen flair to it. She is planning to paint her room purple so I chose a black tray and added black, purple, and silver accents with LOTS of bling!

Since my older son and his girlfriend are quite a bit older, I went with a bit more romantic flair. I wasn’t happy with the photos I have on hand so I left some bare spots to add photos after the holidays.

Trying to keep things balanced between the girls, I kept most of the details as similar as possible. You will find lots of rubons, Spellbinders Diecuts, bling, pearls, stickles, and goodies of all sorts!

Gingerbread....yummm

Hello!! Popping in with another quick post! I’ve completed two of my scrappy Christmas gifts, just one more to go! I am hoping to get it completed tomorrow *crossing my fingers for a good mojo day*
How are you coming on your shopping? With all the storms we’ve had here in MN, I’ve resorted to shopping online this year. I have to say that I missed the hustle and bustle of the crowds, but it sure has been fun having package after package arrive on my doorstep!
While waiting for my packages to arrive, I took some time to create some tags. I just love these guys! I cut the gingerbread out using my Cricut and the Dress UP Paper Dolls Cartridge. I shaded the edges and the center of the “cookies” with a bit of Distress Ink and chalked some cheeks. Next I outlined, added some trim, a bow, and stickled some chipboard hearts for buttons.

I'm off to wrap my gifts, and hang my tags!

Pink Goodness

Such a busy time of the year! Between holiday preparations, working on final bookwork for taxes, attending my son's basketball games, and working on a couple secret projects, I did manage to squeeze out a couple of baby cards!

I used a mixture of Pink Paislee Love Stuck and Sweetness….How appropriate for a little girl!

I am addicted to all my Spellbinders dies. Isn’t that Lacy Circle just too precious?! I cut my dies with Core’dinations cardstock and sanded the edges, then attached with pop dots.

What a crazy week we’ve had! Popping in quick to say hello and share a holiday layout using the cute new Jillibean Soup Christmas Chestnut Soup line.

For the title, I cut each letter out of cardstock three times and layered and topped with stickles for a bit of holiday glitz.

The snowflakes are double layered and covered with stickles for dimension.

My great niece. Isn’t she a cutie?!

Holiday Card

I have a quick holiday card to share today. It’s not the best photo, but it is snowing out and I am being wimpy about stepping outside today! :)

The snow has me in the mood to create holiday cards.

Using Cardabilities sketch #14
I decided to replace the oval shape with a cut out window using my Cricut and Cheers cartridge. I put holiday floral in the corner, and added a sentiment to a Spellbinders Fancy Tag. Stamping a snowflake background, spritized with Peal Glimmer Mist and attaching it to the inside of the card with my Helmar zapdots gives the illusion of looking out the window.

Of course I had to add some Ranger Stickles, and a few Kaiser pearls to give it some holiday sparkle!

Pinky has come to a very difficult decision and I am so sad to say that Dirty Scraps is officially closed. I have enjoyed my time as a designer. Thanks for giving me such a wonderful opportunity, Pinky!!!

Holiday Card

Here we are at the end of another month…unbelievable!!

It is my turn for the weekly challenge at LPSC. I decided it is about time to get a jump start on some holiday cards. I created this one using the October Afternoon papers in the Life Preservers Scrapbook Club August Alternate Kit. The reds and greens in these papers are perfect for a holiday card, I covered the snowflakes with the music paper, and the lacy trim in the kit was a beautiful way to finish it off!

I had fun experimenting with some Bazzill chipboard snowflakes I had on hand. A bit of Distress inks, Distress Picket Fence and Rock Candy Crackle paints, and a dash of glitter…whhhaa la!!

My tree was inspired by Gabrielle’s Make N Take during the Life Preservers Crop last weekend. I created the tree and decorations during the crop, but wanted to finish it off with a tag on the jar/vase. While browsing the Echo Park blog, I came across vintage label downloads and knew that it was just what my tag needed!

The vase is a taco sauce jar! Using a Pink Paislee canvas label, I cut it to fit inside the label form molded in the glass. I filled the jar with leaves and sand from my sandbox.

I used lots of Ranger Stickles, Crackle Accents, and Distress inks as well as popdots and sanding to add texture to the ornaments. Notice the Core'dinations background in each piece?! Love that stuff!! The ghosts, bats, spiders, skeletons, and mat shapes were cut with my cricut.
